Just reviewing our summer goals. So far:
Handwriting:
still working on holding the pencil properly, though it's getting better every time we do writing. However, it still isn't "habbit", although I notice her correcting herself, at times. I am seeing improvements in the way she forms her letters, remembering to go from "top-down", and seems to be doing better at distinguishing b's from d's. We will strive for a 5-minutes-a-day minimum with handwriting.
Reading:
Her reading is really flowing, more and more! Very exciting! She is able to read 2 books a day - and some days more. I'm trying to meet my goal of reading aloud to her and Katie for 2 hours/day, at least most days. This is going very well right now.
Swimming:
Starts this Monday AM for 3 weeks. This will move our lessons to the afternoon.
Responsibility:
We are getting there, but this takes training on both of our parts. There are times that I do things that really should have been done by her. She is: making her bed, setting the dinner table, picking up toys, tidying up her room and some other things, but it takes me prompting and reminding her several times.
Started a gentle introduction to piano this week. My expectations are low here, nothing more than just a friendly warm-up exercise for little fingers and to make it fun.
Goals for Katie: to plan her birthday party #2! Also, colors, shapes, and lots and lots of conversation - as always. Also, need a ped. appt. this month to re-check her iron level.
