Here's the ironic fact: now that CuCu has completed 2 weeks of Safety City, she no longer feels safe. The innocence has been stripped away and now she's aware of what's "out there". Yesterday's short rain shower threw her into a panic ("there might be thunder"), and she built a blanket fort in the living room to protect herself. Times have changed: we didn't talk about gun safety in our Safety Town. I'm half-surprised, but grateful, they didn't talk about responding to terrorism threats. I'm sad at the fact that my girls are growing up, and all too soon, theyhave to learn the sorry truth about this world.
