"Yes Mommy, There Really IS a whaleshark"

Amy has been telling me for a long time now about the whaleshark - "it's from a deep-sea legend, mommy. Legends are stories that people tell over and over; no one really knows if they are true or not." Well, I guessed the whaleshark to be a legend and tried to correct her by saying, "I've heard of a shark and I've heard of a whale, but never a whaleshark." She insisted that the whaleshark is it's own animal.

Well, we found the whaleshark on youtube today - very fascinating. Looks part whale and part shark with very individualistic patterns (as unique as fingerprints!) of white spots and lines on a gray body. And that led us to the giant squid from Tokyo, which led us to getting Papi's engineering tape measure to see what 50 feet actually looked like!! It meaured from the office room all the way to the master bedroom door. The description said the squid's eyes are as big as hubcaps - so out the garage we went to get a look at the Oddysey's hubcaps! Amy's eyes were about as big as hubcaps themselves as her brain wrapped itself around that information.

And Katie's is attatched to the little chair that she drags around to higher herself up to see "all that she can see". The girl is non-stop talking lately, imitating all of us. Got to get a booster seat ASAP. We are so done with that high chair since yesterday's fall. Thank God she didn't get a worse injury.
