Two Months Later

Two months have passed without a single entry into this blog - the time seems like a blur. I'm trying to remember what we've done.

Homeschool: for Amy, more reading, more writing (the copybook now), math (counting up to 100, learning coins and coin value and counting coin value), WAHA, ballet, knitting, Friday gym class, lots of memory work. She has memorized the following: pledge of allegiance, books of the Old Testament, books of the New Testament, poems including Magic Words, Little Drops of Water, Anger, Against Quarelling and Fighting, the ten commandments, the Lord's prayer and the fruit of the Spirit. We are starting to memorize Bible verses this week.

In these past two months, Katie has learned LOTS of words in English and Spanish; she's definately showing a preference for English, but knows more Spanish (and uses it) than Amy did at this age. She's got her colors down! The basic colors, anyway; black, white, red, orange, green, blue, purple, yellow, brown and of course, pink. The past two weeks, she is all about numbers; likes the number puzzles, likes to count. And she's got most of the puzzles figured out - she does them so quickly! Planning to start her in ballet next fall; she *really* wants to go in Amy's class! But waiting a year will do her a lot of good.

Other Things: We have spent the fall working outdoors, accomplishing a lot of things. Besides cutting down 25+ scruffy pines, we dug up a large area for next year's garden, did yard clean-up, burned an enormous brush pile, painted the mailbox and got a good-sized shed for the garden "stuff". Oh, and Alfredo got his snowblower! Just in time, maybe; 5" of snow forecasted for today. I'm sure they will be dragging me outside for some fun!
