A week has passed without a chance to write! Two Dr. appointments, an afternoon playdate with Abby Mikhail plus the usual morning lessons has rushed the week forward at amazing speed.
This morning we finished book 1A of Singapore math. In retrospect, we could have easily skipped 1A and 1B and gone into the 1st grade series. The content of the kindergarten level was already covered in some of the other workbooks we have. The lesson content is great, but like others have already concluded, not very much repetition. Still considering Saxon math for down the road; for this upcoming school year, we will continue to build on what we know plus telling time and counting money and counting by 2's, and then 3's and 4's. Also, learning place value - which I need to get a good handle on myself!
I notice a bit more 'fluency' in Amy's reading, as well as a bit more initiative on her part to actually pick up a book and ask to read it to me. This is an exciting change! Also, our 'class time' is lengthening out - about an hour before we take a break on the deck. Even her handwriting is looking better since the beginning - I'm sure we'll be ready for the Memoria Press copybook in September.
